Social Upliftment Initiatives

A number of initiatives have been undertaken by the Foundation, including support for disease eradication measures, relief and rehabilitation measures, provision of drinking water and upgradation of facilities in pilgrimage centres.

• Relief efforts have focused on reconstruction of housing following a number of natural disasters, including 1999 and 2001 Orissa cyclones and the 2001 Gujarat earthquake in India.
• The Foundation has donated to the Leprosy Mission for Regional Vocational Training Centre for Rehabilitation of leprosy victims in Vadathorasalur, Tamil Nadu.
• The Foundation funds rehabilitation of disaster affected persons in Uttarakhand, North India, post the massive flooding along the major rivers in June 2013. A substantial donation was made for relief and reconstruction activities, prior to onset of the winter snows.
• The Foundation has supported the creation of public facilities and improvement of pilgrim facilities in important Himalayan places of pilgrimage, such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, Hrishikesh, Hardwar and Mansarovar.
• The Foundation has donated to the Mata Amritanandamayi Math for the launch of the India 2020 Centre for Societal Transformation.
• Support for lSKCON's 'Food for Life' programme.
• Donations to Save a Child, Foster Plan and Plan International in the UK.
• The Foundation hosted Polio eradication and immunization initiatives with WHO and the Rotary International
• The Foundation supported 'Drinking Water for the Millions Programme' in the less accessible areas of five Indian states, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
